Album Review
Former Ben Folds collaborator Evan Olson gets to the heart of the matter on his second release. Swollen to the tune of 21 songs, Red is a harmless record about relationships, failure, and, occasionally, fun. From tender ballads to '80s-style rockers, there is little flow and a lot of river. Olson is a talented fellow, though, and he hits his stride on songs like "Vegas Bound" and shows off a nice tenor on the moody "Way to Love"." Well-crafted pop confections abound, and this self-recorded, self-produced confessional is just loose enough to be enjoyable, despite its meandering course.

the BEST undiscovered CD of the decade
this is the best "undiscovered" CD of the decade. Every song is cool, and very addictive. My favorites are "Not What I Wanted" and "Worry About Me". But I love to listen to the ENTIRE CD, including the last few songs. They are all vocal, except the final 2 songs are instrumental. Evan has a lot of different styles (and that's a good thing).
On "Cane" Last Night . . .
I was introduced to Evan Olson's "Ticking Away" last night during a steamy shower scene involving Jimmy Smits and Paola Turbay. What a wonderful song! If the rest of this album is even close to the same quality, it's my next purchase!
