Customer Reviews

Fun, smooth and nice

Well, I should point out this is kinda my introduction to Peter Rowan. Although I have gotten down with Old and In the Way, I have never before purchased solo Peter Rowan. So, obviously these comments come from a somewhat Rowan newbie. With that said, I still understand bluegrass and reggae. Basically, this is just a really fun and smooth album. Several great tracks. Lyrics are kinda cheesy but funny and cool. I have owned this album for several months and the music still stays reasonably freash. I highly recomend this album to anyone vagely interested. Best tracks: Fetch Wood Carry Water, Pulling the Devil By the Tail, Blue Mountain, I Don't Want to Live Without Your Love

Great sound ....

Bluegrass legend Peter Rowan is perhaps best known to most for writing the 70's classic, Panama Red which was done by NPRS. For this CD Rowan teams up with another music legend, Jamaican roots reggae guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith, who also produces some of the tracks. Smith also brings along fellow Jamaican musicians, Robbie Lyn on keyboard and Squiddley Cole on drums. Is some great songs here, Little Maggie, Angel Island, The Cukoo Bird, Fetch Wood Carry Water (which also has a dub version) and also a killer live version of the Marley classic, No Woman No Cry. This CD is a must for any Bluegrass & Reggae music fan looking for something different. Great musicianship all the way around.

Reggae + Peter Rowan = Terrificly Chill!

"...A frequent spectacular collaboration between Rowan and a host of top reggae session players"-Nashville City Paper

"...A surprisingly sweet mix, with plenty of room for picking and a quiet, unlikely beauty"-Kenny Berkowitz, Acousitic Guitar Magazine

"Whether grooving on the smooth sailing instrumental Sky Dancer or the gentle lilt of I Don’t Want to Live Without Your Love, Rowan couldn’t sound more relaxed and at home in guiding his supporting cast through their sunny supplication." -The Music Box

"Ever since the first time I heard this album, I was hooked. It is one of those CDs you can put in the tray and listen to from begininng to end without skipping any songs. I highly recommend it!" Tim Braz

An impressive array of Jamaican and Bluegrass musicians contributes to this album including; “Chinna” Smith on guitar, "Squidley" Cole on drums, Nashville’s top session guitarist Jerry Douglas on dobro and lap steel guitar, Eddie Adcock on banjo, and Stuart Duncan on fiddle.
