iTunes Review
"Though few people realize it, the hip-hop world owes Warren G a tremendous debt. The low-key producer/DJ/rapper from Long Beach was the first to introduce Dr. Dre to both Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg, paving the way for countless classic records and millions of album sales. The three of them were rocking parties and making tapes as the group 213, while Dre was riding high with N.W.A. After much persistence, he finally got Dre to listen, and the rest was history. Warren has continued to put out music for over fifteen years, but this album, his 1994 debut, remains the pinnacle of his career. Named after and jumping off with his breakthrough anthem "Regulate," it's the ideal soundtrack to a sunny California day, overflowing with ear-tickling grooves with smooth, everyman rhymes. His production is undeniably catchy on every track, and he also shares mic time with homies like The Twinz, Jah Skillz, and the Dove Shack. Warren's not the greatest MC, but he brings a mild-mannered charm that's hard not to like. Standouts include "And Ya Don't Stop," "So Many Ways," and "This Is The Shack.""
