Album Review

In 1990, his fanciful funk keyboard action on Rejoice was masterful; when he later played with Marion Meadows, he became part of smooth jazz consciousness. This follow-up to his debut is a pop, jazz, and soul collection that rivals the first one in likeableness and simple adventure. Most of the cuts convey an easygoing sense of R&B rhythms, along with a propensity by Baldwin to improvise over the tastiest grooves imaginable. His version of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" is so perky, you might not recognize it. The bounciness of "Billy's Funk" and "It's Not Enough (Enuf)" are indicative of the party flavor apparent throughout. And as if Baldwin wasn't impressive enough with his keyboards and occasional bass playing, he adds the sax talents of Grover Washington, Jr. and Meadows and the vocalese of Dwight Sills. A horn section is also used to great effect on "Everything You Want (In Time)." There are a few serious moments, such as "In a Sentimental Mood," but for the most part, this is a fun spirited, let your hair down kind of listen.

Had It On Cassette Before CD

Like the last reviewer, I also had this on cassette and it was out of print for years when it was originally released on Atlantic Jazz. This was one of my favorite CDs by this artist. All the songs are artistically great. I found this album on CD in a store a few years ago and it stands out to be one of my favorites! Great Smooth Jazz!!

This is a True Classic

Just like the others I had this on tape and I wore it out, I think I still have it somewhere. This was truly a great CD with some great guest artist, Noel Pointer, Grover, Will Downing, Marion Medows. I'm so glad I can add this to all my other Bob Baldwin albums.

Had Original Cassette B4 CD

It took U long enough 2 incl. this CD,album, whatever...It was originally under the Atlantic Jazz label & it was excellent, Wish U Were Here was his signature song when he made it big on Smooth Jazz radio (Had a time acquiring CD version fm Baldwin himself, Long Story) Yet to incl. it on my I Tunes collection but now that it's available thru ITunes, Ur right Time after Time isn't recognizable but that's da beauty of his version, Plus the talent of the late Grover Washington Jr, the late Noel Pointer, Will Downing and Bob himself add his own vocals on Till We Meet Again. His 1st is his best Buy It!!!
