iTunes Review
The arresting Reservoir reveals layers of instrumental depth and subtle songwriting complexities with repeated listens. Like Belle and Sebastian or the Arcade Fire, much of these tunes braid fragmented poetic lyrics of awkward confidence and nonsensical scholarly regurgitations with well arranged sections of trumpets, pianos, strings, bells and a Morrissey-esque swagger in singer Simon Balthazer. “I’m a Pilot” opens with a beat forged from an organic ambience of recorded sounds — heavy chains dropped on wood and what sounds like boxes of books hitting the floor before piano and bass seep in under violins, glockenspiel and Balthazer crooning with a swarthy romance. “Ghosts” is danceable enough to get urban anglophiles shaking their bangs and hip-satchels, though the uplifting drive of “Luna” makes for a universally accessible dancefloor jam that anyone can dig. “The Walls Are Coming Down” makes Armageddon sound glamorous, but the pedaling “Drowning Men” is undeniably infectious.
Customer Reviews
No Joke-this is the best album of 2009
I LOVE Arcade Fire and have been looking like crazy for something that can compare to the sheer genious found here. One of those albums that you need to listen to all the way through, this one does not disapoint. BUY the ENTIRE album... It is less expesive by a LOT! You save 5.49!
THIS IS AMAZING!
Album of the Year!!! (in my opinion)
This is ALBUM OF THE YEAR!!!..even without the bonus tracks. It's worth it to get the actual cd though and then buy the bonus tracks off the deluxe version seprate. Anyways, best band i've ever heard. Not a single rubbish track on here. Check them out!
Expensive
Very good band. I hate when bands sell music for $1.29.
