LOVE IT!

This is my favorite Journey album. It's two discs, one with new songs and the other with re-recordings. This is because of their new singer, who I'm happy to say rocks. He is a great singer live and on this album. Any Journey fan needs to pick this one up! Even those who just like rock need to get it :)

Disk One is Great; Covers Not So Good.

I am a huge Journey fan, and I love Journey's work with Gregg Rolie and/or Steve Perry up front. After one somewhat good album (Arrival) with S. Augeri on vocals, and one that was less impressive (Generations), I welcome Pineda with open arms... provided that he doesn't record Open Arms or any of the Perry or Rolie classics. It is disrespectful to create the mediocre covers of disk 2. That said, the original songs on the album are great, especially "Where did I Lose Your Love," "Like a Sunshower" (which recaptures somehow the R&B influences heard on Evolution or Departure) and "What I needed" (a song with superb vocals).Arnel is at his best when he allows himself to have his own style. (On the re-recorded tracks Pineda's attempt to copy Perry's soul-tinged timbre sounds like a strained hybrid between Sammy Hagar and Ricky Martin). Trust me, I miss Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie as much as anyone, but the new songs on Revelation are well-crafted, well-performed songs that fit well into the ever-expanding Journey canon.

Great Album!!

Love the new lead singer Arnel. He has kept the great sound Journey has always had if not giving it a couple of notches up on their sound as a group. I look forward to many more songs and albums from them. I am a true fan.

During their initial 14 years of existence (1973-1987), Journey altered their musical approach and their personnel extensively while becoming a top touring and recording band. The only constant factor was guitarist Neal Schon (born February 27, 1954), a music prodigy who had been a member of Santana in 1971-1972. The original unit, which was named in a contest on KSAN-FM in San Francisco, featured Schon, bassist Ross Valory, drummer Prairie Prince (replaced by Aynsley Dunbar), and guitarist George...
