iTunes Review

Despite its title, Texas country-rocker Radney Foster’s Revival is not your usual faith-based music project. This impressive and often moving song collection is an unashamedly personal work, touching upon Foster’s life and times in explicit terms. Avoiding easy piety or maudlin sentiments, he looks for the divine presence among the world’s underdogs in the title track and wrestles with his own inner doubts in “I Made Peace With God That Day.” The need for family healing is addressed with particular honesty in “Forgiveness,” “Second Chances” and “Life Is Hard.” From the bittersweet grace of “Angel Flight” (a salute to fallen veterans) to the roof-shaking fervor of “Shed a Little Light,” Foster delves into spiritual questions with warmth and empathy, helped by the vigorous support of his backup group and the boldly defined sonic settings provided by co-producer Darrell Brown. Foster is in fine voice throughout, whether he’s tearing into an anthemic track like “Until It’s Gone” or getting soulful on a ballad like “Suitcase.” A gutsy and uplifting work.

Buy This ALBUM!

Wow! Radney really did it this time.... Positive outlook on even the hardest times we go through. Captures all of the emotions that make great music.... He paints a picture that you can relate to in every song. Start to finish Revival is the best record of 2009 so far. Get it!

A new career high!

Radney has made many fantastic albums, but he has set a new peak with Revival. The songs have an emotional depth that gives them great power. But the album isn't overwhelmed by the weight of what inspired the songs. Rad has a created an album to give us all a sense of revival. It feels like the sun has come up after a long dark night. The warmth of that sun feels so good.

Radney Foster Revival - a much needed Revival for Music!!

Radney Foster, The producers, The Confessions, The songwriting partners together have all rolled back the stone on Music Row's dead music scene once again. Like Radney's previous work ( See What You Want Too See and Del Rio) Radney and his friends have reminded us again why we love music. That we want it Earthy. That we want it Honest. That we don't want music in our life to be passive and safe. That we don't want to be sitting in the pews with our heads always quietly bowed in hush reverence. We want to stand on the benches with hands in the air, cheering, crying laughing and dancing as one. When Music Row finally catches up to the fact that this cd is out, They will be pulling from this in years to come and water these songs down to make hits for their radney clones Until then, while the rest of us who know about it are being caught up in the Saturday night rapture of it all - Let's strap on our Earbuds and Ipods and enjoy was has indeed risen out of the recording caves of Nashville. Real Music has risen indeed and it ain't even Easter yet. Amen!
