iTunes Review

Miranda Lambert first cast herself as a dangerous woman, a lover once burned but no more. Her thirst for vengeance was as tough as this young Texan’s love. While she can still convey these truths with an impeccable country voice — a slight twang to a Southern accent that knows how to roll a vowel for its complete emotional content — it isn’t all she can do. Musically, her third album is more of what people enjoyed about her first two, with the songwriting getting ever stronger. The electric guitars cry rock ‘n’ roll, while the pedal steel throws things back over the country fence and the harmonies hold everything else in place. “White Liar” is the bulldozing opener that leads the way for the sweeter bounce of “Only Prettier” and the tender ballad, “Dead Flowers.” “Me and Your Cigarettes,” “Airstream Song” and “Makin’ Plans” are classic country, while “Maintain the Pain” uses some funkier-sounding guitars to shoot out her car radio. And she completely rocks out with manic banjo and guitar distortion for a cover of John Prine’s “That’s The Way That the World Goes ‘Round.”

Forget Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood...

by ArkMan

Miranda Lambert is far more interesting than those two manufactured wanna-be's. Yes, she was on Nashville Star, so you can argue that she received some free exposure that helped jumpstart her career. However, while Swift and Underwood play it safe with bland tunes and slick production (honestly, I can't tell their songs apart), Lambert isn't afraid to shake things up. Just listen to her cover of That's the Way That the World Goes 'Round if you need proof, and Maintain the Pain flat-out rocks. White Liar is the best country song I've heard this year, period. I haven't been able to get it out of my head since I first listened to it. Why Miranda Lambert isn't as famous as some other, lesser talented country artists is absolutely a mystery to me. If you like contemporary country music and you're looking for something original, give Revolution a try.

Another phenomenal album from a phenomenal artist! Miranda Lambert has always been one of my favorite artists. I admire her for her confidence and strength. 'Dead Flowers' is my personal favorite on the album. It's raw and real. Her vocals shine on this one. The entire album is great. You won't regret buying this one.
