from the hip hop influenced rewind that, to the r&b smooth jam like this to the jazzy cool of paradise found. this is a incredible musical ride from start to finish. take a chance on the christian scotts of the world. respecting the past is a necessity & not being afraid to explore the future is a must. this cd shows you the possibilities. not only of the artist but what he has in store for us in the years to come. 10 stars

Itunes should offer a guarantee on this artist... I am simply blown away. Simply fresh, intensely melodic, and intrinsically rythmic. The phrasing in his arrangements is both poetic and atmospheric, modern and traditional in it's expression. Christian Scott is well on his way to being the next great Jazz performer... and well backed by some fantastic musicianship. I've been looking for this... I just wish I could surf to his music.
Welcome to the future of Jazz
Simply put, this is amazing jazz. The teens and 20's had Louis Armstrong, the 60's and 70's had Coltrane and Davis, and today we have Christian Scott. Do yourself a favor and get this album today, you'll be glad that you did. Christian comes from a Jazz family with his uncle accompanying on Sax for this album. He spent 2 years working on the wickedly breathy sound that comes out of his trumpet. You will be sucked it from the first note to the last. Christian writes all the pieces to his music, excluding the two covers, so here is to looking forward to many more decades of great, new, and original music by this kid.
