Great songs, Great artist, bad collection!

I have loved Hootie & the Blowfish (HBF) since the late '90's. I like them because they have very insightful lyrics and a nice balance between soft and hard rock without sounding too poppy. This leads us to this collection, which has some flaws. The first flaw is that the download only has five songs, about the length of a maxi-single. For a band that has been making as music as long as HBF has, five songs doesn't come close. Another flaw is the song choices Rhino has made. Among the songs included in the download is "Only Wanna Be With You" and "Time". While they made great choice with "Time", I have to question the choice of "Only Wanna Be With You". While this is a great song, there were other hits off of 1994's "Cracked Rear View" such as "Hold My Hand" and "Let Her Cry". Once you hear "Only Wanna Be With You" on almost every 90's retro collection known to man, it does get a little tiring after a bit. Show some variety, people! Two of cuts off of this collection are "Old Man & Me" and "Tucker's Town", from the 1996 release of "Fairweather Johnson". I Feel Rhino made a good choice here, since "Fairweather Johnson" didn't do nearly as well on the charts as "Cracked Rear View" (it's still a good album, but that's a whole other discussion entirely). The only other hit they could have included is "Be the One". The last song in this collection is "I Go Blind". This song was never on any of the regular albums; it was however on 2000's "Smoothed, Scattered, and Covered". The main place were a buyer of this collection would remember "I Go Blind"is from "Friends", season two. This leads into the third and fatal flaw. That is, this collection ends in 1996 (minus "I Go Blind")! That means if a person were to buy this collection, they would have no way of knowing about other great songs such as "I Will Wait", "Wishing", "Only Lonely" (all off of 1998's "Musical Chairs"). Other songs that would be missed are "Deeper Side", "Innocence", and "The Rain Song" (all off of the 2003 self-titled album). The biggest part missing would be "State Your Peace" and "One Love" (off of last years "Looking for Lucky"). In short, these five songs are everywhere, and this collection is limited. If you want some Hootie to say you have Hootie, then this is good. If you really want to get into HBF, start with the 2003 "The Best of" collection. Pass on this one.

Wow warner.

This is crap. Hootie had 4 big hits from Cracked Rear View, and on a 5-song best-of you managed to leave out 2 of them. This should go Only Wanna Be With You, Time, Let Her Cry, Hold My Hand, and Old Mane & Me. This is a fact, don't dispute it. People, just get Cracked Rear View.

HELLO??

Ok I love Hootie as much as anybody thats why this is a Five star, but honestly, hello? Arguably three of their best songs (Hold My Hand, I Will Wait, and Let Her Cry) are not on here. You are jipping people of the greatness of The Blowfish

Biography

Formed: 1989 in Columbia, SC

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

For a short time, Hootie & the Blowfish was the most popular band in America. Grunge music ruled the airwaves during the mid-'90s, but Hootie played a mainstream pop variation of blues-rock, and their easy-going sound netted them a string of Top 40 hits. Formed at the University of South Carolina, the group featured lead vocalist/guitarist Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim "Soni" Sonefeld, and the band's name referred to two mutual friends (not Rucker and the group itself).
