Customer Reviews

ooopsy!

Well, here's a review of the the tunes in this CD. If Apple can't post the right one, someone should do it. If you have not already got all of Joni's earlier releases, this is a good sampler, but by no means the most definitive collection of her work. Drawn completely from records she released before she got all jazzy and deep, some listeners may feel that this is the quintessential Joni. In any event, if you have been hiding under a rock somewhere for the last thirty-five years and have never heard any of these tunes on the radio, you owe it to yourself to check this slim compilation out. You might also want to compare the "Hits" and "Misses" matched set out, which contains a much broader, more eclectic range of her music. The "Misses" collection showcases her true talents with some of her favorites that did NOT make the charts.

Good Appetizer!

It's early Joni, but only a teaser. If you like her deeper, sexier melodies, you've got to look beyond this one. This is Joni as a pop artist. If you were growing up in the 60's & 70's you'll love these songs and a bit of a bargin, especially if you are starting to build a library and don't have a lot of $$$$$

Uncompromising and iconoclastic, Mitchell confounded expectations at every turn; restlessly innovative, her music evolved from deeply personal folk stylings into pop, jazz, avant-garde, and even world music, presaging the multicultural experimentation of the 1980s and 1990s by over a decade. Fiercely independent, her work steadfastly resisted the whims of both mainstream...
