Album Review
If you are a big fan of instrumental pop or smooth jazz, you'll probably enjoy saxophonist Richard Elliot's cover of the Stylistics' hit "You Make Me Feel Brand New" on Ricochet as well as a few of the pleasant original tunes.
Customer Reviews
Music you just love to hate
Throw all of these guys in a basket, shake them up and you can't tell them apart. Completely souless. Trane, Byrd, Bird, Miles, Freddie, Cannonball where are you? This clueless generation of musicians needs direction. Studio managers should throw these guys out and ban them until they grow some creativity.
Similarities
While one reviewer mentioned the similarities to Richard Elliot and other current smooth jazz sax players (although no names were mentioned) this is "smooth jazz" and not the more improvisational straight-ahead or contemporary jazz. But believe me Elliot has the chops for it. You need only see him and the others LIVE and they are truly great musicans. No, not Coltrane or Parker, but great in their own right. This is a fine album and thoroughly enjoyable!
The Best
This is my favorite of all of the Richard Elliot albums, And I am only 15. It has a very upbeat rythem which sounds really amazing. My parents, especially my dad, who plays sax has been an Elliot fan for a long time and they own all of his cds except for his latest one. I was never really much into jazz but this album turned me on to it. This first time I heard it I just popped it in expecting to fall asleep to it, though I ended up staying up through the whole record. I think this is probably Elliots best work so far I even like it more than his greatest hits album. But what do I know I'm only 15?
