iTunes Review
In the early '70s, Walker became a true pioneer of Lone Star-style progressive country. The dusty-throated composer of "Mr. Bojangles" had abandoned Greenwich Village for Terlingua, Texas and never looked back. His vision of cowboy paradise was especially sharp on 1975's Ridin' High. On this album, Jerry Jeff and his Lost Gonzo Band celebrate the lives of saddle tramps, stoners, and survivors. Cowpuncher serenades like "Night Rider's Lament" are matched with Dixie vignettes like "Mississippi, You're on My Mind." "Jaded Love," and "Like a Coat from the Cold" strike a raggedly romantic mood. Then there's "Pissin' in the Wind." It's as close to a personal anthem as Walker ever recorded. What unifies these songs is a laid-back outlaw spirit, soaked in tequila and campfire poetry. Walker remains a national treasure, and Ridin' High catches him and his Gonzo gang at their zenith.

Jerry Jeff Walker - Ridin' High
I orignally bought this album, (vinyl), when it first came out in '75. I still have my old vinyl, but alas, the years have taken a toll on it's audio quality. I just bought this digital format and can't wait to get in it in my MP3 player. I looked on the internet for a CD and found 2 for $90 each!!! Hey, I guess the LP must really be a collector's item!! Enjoy Jerry when he was ridin' high and livin' life full!
Jerry Jeff /Ridin' High
I bought this album in 1975 and listened to it continually. I borrowed it to a friend and never got it back. I'm just so glad it's available to download. I can't tell you how often one of these songs comes to my mind. What a voice and what a songwriter! Just awesome!
