Best Dynasty album

It's great funk/pop/soul from beginning to end. Leon Sylvers is king. Check out The Only One written by Jam & Lewis

Some of the best albums by SOLAR Records

This is one of my favorite Dynasty albums along with Adventures in the Land of Music, but unfortunately the funky slammer "Check It Out" was the group's only hit on the album (peaking at a low #39 on the R&B charts in late 1982) and last hit to date. "The Only One," "Strokin'", "Does That Ring A Bell", and my favorite, "Questions" were far overlooked. This was around the time that Midnight Star, Shalamar, and The Whispers were the only major hit makers on SOALR records in 1982 and the short attention-spanned fans paid more attention to those three groups. Carrie Lucas and The Sylvers were falling under the same spell as Dynasty while Lakeside made a few more R&B hits. "Check It Out" was no "I Just Begun To Love You" but it was bettet. I'm glad that Unidisc remastered all of Dynasty's albums as well as other SOLAR artists.

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '00s

The creation of producer/label-head Dick Griffey and Leon Sylvers, this Los Angeles band did light funk and clever dance-pop numbers in the late '70s and '80s. They got off to a fast start with the single "I Don't Want to Be a Freak (But I Can't Help Myself)" from their 1979 LP Your Piece of the Rock. The next single, "I've Just Begun to Love," was their lone Top Ten R&B hit, peaking at number six in 1980....
