Rise Up
What a great album - the tracks are filled with passion and speak to the heart needs of young and old alike with clarity and purpose. I especially enjoyed "Inexpressible, Glorious Joy!" and "Tender Mercies" as they speak to many of the real pains of life in an honest way and look forward to the hope of a savior that understands. Thanks for a great album and I look forward to what's next.
Music that proclaims and communicates to a new generation
This is great music, great theology, and militant church music emphasizing the church's proclamation to the world.
Freshman effort a sure hit
While Aaron Barker has been putting out music for 10 years or so, I am so excited to see his music get to so many more people. These songs are a testament to his years as a worship leader and it is incredible to get them into a studio! Some Highlights: Freedom- Love the bridge. "This fire burns within my soul, holy spirit take control, make it brighter as I go." This song has a hard edge, but a joyful spirit to it. Inexpressible, Glorious Joy! - I would say my favorite of the album tied with All My Crowns. This is one of Barker's songs that I really believe is a classic. It is just worship and it is straight scripture. Nuff' said. Rise Up- title track, with a straight intensity. No one really writes songs like this one. "Although my friends may fall away, this deep conviction in my heart is here to stay." Yeah. Come and Change Me- OH COME ON! The version of this song is a techno/rock song that just wants to makes you want to save the world! And be changed in the process! Second favorite on the album. Race Day- Listen to this one just for fun. This is musically the most catchy by far of the album. Tony's southern rock riffs make you wanna get up and dance. This is just a feel good song! Lavishly Loved/Tender Merices- Power packet lyrically. Gut wrenching. Wonderful. To Lift You Higher- Out of All of Barkers songs, this one is the most memorable to sing. I think this would make a great worship song on a Sunday morning! All My Crowns- Breathtaking track. You have to hear it. Yes it is 7 minutes but get to about the 4 minute mark and you have a SONIC SENSATION. The mixture of classical piano, layered vocals, and rock guitar is very unique. Listen for vocalist Josh Ord on this track....chops man....chops.... I didn't give this album 5 stars because Barker will have to outdo himself on his coming projects!
