iTunes Review
With their fifth studio album, the Black Dahlia Murder return to working with producer Mark Lewis who lent his studio wizardry to the band’s previous album, 2009’s Deflorate. Opening song “A Shrine to Madness” begins with a moment of classical music before an explosion of tightly wound guitar riffs tries to keep up with rapid-fire drumming while Strnad screams and howls like a man possessed by an entire underworld of demons. In the aptly titled “On Stirring Seas of Salted Blood,” his pained guttural growls sound as if he’s about to upchuck his vital organs. The relentless rhythms that jackhammer away at “Window” nearly upstage Strnad’s schizophrenic duality — half of the song has him gurgling the genre’s requisite vocals while he performs the other half with high-pitched shrieks that come across like Linda Blair’s more harrowing moments in The Exorcist. Fans who found newcomer Ryan Knight’s guitar work impressive on Deflorate, are in for a treat here, especially in “The Raven.”

I have been waiting five months for this XD
Holy katanas Batman!!!!
I had to wait till 2pm the next day for this to come out, being that I live in Tokyo. This one of the few bands I still get excited about when it comes to new music and BDM never disappoints. This album is a little different musicwise but still amazing nonetheless. I actually waited till midnight, and I was rewarded with great music. I will buy the CD too, just to have it. Oh and to BDM, if you're reading this, COME TOUR JAPAN SOMETIME IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS PLEASE!!!!
One of the best metal albums of 2011 by far.
Ryan Knight has really made this band step up a few notches. His playing is incredible like always, and it seems like there's more equal songwriting contributions to this album, and it's clearly much better than their previous albums. Just get this now along with Sylosis's "Edge of the Earth" hahaha. Best songs: The Window, Moonlight Equilibrium, The Raven, and all of them :D the wait is well worth it, i can assure you that!
And for "He who poops," by seeing what you have reviewed, why are you here? If you don't like it, then don't waste your time or anybody else's by reviewing it by giving no valid explanation as to why you don't like it other than bashing the music and its fans, telling us to seek therapy. This IS REAL music, so get it over it. if this is a fad angry at parents in rebellion, then why has metal existed for 40+ years? quit making generalizations of others, and YOU grow up. Tolerance and maturity are strong virtues, you know. Find them. You give respect to earn it.
