Holy poop...

I got to see these guys live a while ago, and I've loved them ever since. They sound even better live and watching them blunder around the stage is hilarious. It's hard for me to describe their music: it's definitely indie rock...but it has blues and jazz influences; some of the songs apeal to the mainstream (Hang Me Out to Dry), but some may take a little more time to get into; the lead singers voice reminds me of Jack White's, but there is so much more shrillness and control. So all in all...this album frickin rocks!

An Amazing Album

The Cold War Kids are both new and familiar at the same time. With tones of The Clash the album is very complete. 'Hang Me Up to Dry' uses the clothing metaphor to tell the timeless story of being used up by one's partner as the chorus cries out in exasperation. Shows of late remorse is the underlying theme of 'Saint John' which has a halting beat that is perfectly punctuated by a tambourine. 'Hospital Beds' use of a indian war drum beat provides a perfect canvas for the keyboard solo halfway through. Combined with 'God, Make Up Your Mind', 'Passing the Hat' and 'We Used to Vacation' and the others, this is an album you can listen to straight through. -RSZ aka DAWooten

yay

We Used to Vacation, Hang Me Up to Dry, and Hospital Beds are excellent. I like this album much more than Loyalty to Loyalty.
