Groundation lovers -- their new direction, a great sound!
I've loved Groundation and Harrison Stafford's music for years, and was a bit disappointed by their latest release in Aug 2009. It wasn't headed anywhere new, and when I stumbled upon Rockamovya last week, I realized where their creative energy had really gone. Tilted much more towards instrumental reggae/ska jamming, there is enough good lyrics -- in Harrison's inimitable wail -- to make each of the songs on the album like discovering Groundation all over again. A delicious funky vibe to their sound -- the Ventures play Kingston Jamaica -- a touch more downbeat than his other albums, but the best new Reggae album I've heard this year.
BUY IT, SOAK IT IN!
probably one of the best new roots albums to come out in the last couple of years. Half of this band are members of groundation, an exceptional reggae band and Will Bernard and Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace bring a great vibe to this thing. A must buy! Something you will listen over and over again!
Amazing! The best of reggae, jazz and roots in one!
I just want to know if they ever play together live and if so where/when? Amazing album!
