Customer Reviews
Anthony and the Johnson not credit with Bryan Ferry,a DUET!
Maybe was the phenomenon success of The Pirate if the Carebean saga movies that promted this project, anyhow interesting choice of old resurfaced songs and artists covering it.
The best is Bryan Ferry's "The Cruel Ship Captain" and also a duet with Anthony and the Johnsons "Lowlands Low" but Anthony is not credited on it as siinging the duet, why?? he learn a few tricks on the singing and manerism from Bryan Ferry.
Very enjoyable experience,am feelinf like SAILING! OH OH OH
Love it
I agree with the other review here, that this is a great album. But I disagree about what is the "best"! There is such a range of songs/artist approaches available here, that this is just as it should be... Anybody can find what they like and discover new songs and artists. The ones that I love for their tone, execution, and just that sheer feeling of thrill that they give me (and this doesn't happen to me often listening to music anymore! so these are special):
John C. Reilly's "Fathom the Bowl" (I recognized his voice from having seen him in films - he is wonderful here)
Cape Cod Girls
Mingulay Boat Song
Turkish Revelry
Blood Red Roses, Sally Brown, Lowlands Away (very haunting), Shenandoah, Hog Eye Man, Grey Funnel Line
Goodness! I feel like I am listing the whole album. But I found out about so many great songs here. I recommend it whole heartedly. I am actually grateful to those Pirates of the Caribbean movies... at first I thought them just silly but if they encouraged this project , yay!
