I CAN'T TAKE THIS ONE OUT OF MY CD PLAYER!!
This is by far the best CD I have bought in years. I have heard the band compared to Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, Bruce Springsteen, etc., but Carlson's choices are bold and innovative, especially when you factor in his relatively young age. Incorporating "rap" rhythms in the rock/funk "Rollin On" is genius. The uplifting "choir" mixed with D.J. Lincoln’s scratching on “Hummingbird Billy” is brilliant and adds and edge to an already funky and sexy number (you will have this song on “repeat” in your player). The bass on “Fade Away” is both haunting and almost painful. On the anti-war anthem “Stop”, Carlson expresses his views without didactics, rather with righteous anger and compassion. In “One Way” Carlson expresses his “romantic” truth - without shame. Cut to “Nonstop Lady” and you’ll be jumping out of your seat and dancing to this blues/rock number, reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry! It is impossible to “pigeon-hole” Carlson’s music into one genre. This Cd is eclectic and restored my faith in “rock”! The perfect CD for a road trip – just be careful – you will want to blast the volume to full power and I’ve missed a few police and fire sirens because of it!
A very special CD!
It was clear from the first album that Steve is an insightful songwriter and an accomplished musician. On “Rollin On” he has a whole new band behind him and they are terrific. This album if FUN!! Every song is worth listening to! I would advise anyone to buy the whole CD and don’t miss a single song! Congratulations SCB on a brilliant production!

My friend's sister Ellie is a big fan of Steve's and the band and gave me this CD for my birthday. I absolutly love Wasted Jamie and Hummingbird Billy.
