It's ridiculous how good this album is.
Finally a reinterpretation of Christmas classics that brings vitality back to great songs that have been drained of life by endless knock-offs. Angela McCluskey’s haunting version of Frosty the Snowman on the opening track drives right to the aching heart of it all (and is the worth the $10 album price all by itself). The tracks that follow are as varied and original as any compilation you’ll find. You won’t find any cheesy duets of an old-timer with a young pop princess, just fierce re-imaginings of songs that have long since lost their edge. J. Ralph finally shakes the dust off of the Jose Felciano classic, and takes the torch from the Latin troubadour with such success that his version should unseat the original in the annual Yuletide rotation. When each year there is a new wave of holiday covers that blend into the last year’s with seemingly greater indistinguishability, now this vivacious collection finally provides something to wake you up from your egg-nog induced stupor.

Angela McCluskey's version of Frosty the Snowman has made me stop putting ice in my vodka. The sight of a melting ice cube is now more than I can bare. Bravo to all involved......
