Album Review

Save Junior Vasquez's appearance, RuPaul doesn't have the clout in 2006 to draw the big-name remixers for his Reworked collection. He does have taste, though, and this collection of remixed material — mostly sourced from the 2004 album Red Hot — will give hardcore fans a thrilling ride. The sounds of trance, house, and mainstream dance are all applied skillfully and there's even a bit of Kraftwerk by way of Afrika Bambaataa on the "Planet Rock"-inspired "El Lay Toya Jam" remix of "Supermodel." Unfortunately, the remixes of "Supermodel" are based on a re-recording instead of the original hit, and unless you're familiar with and a fan of Red Hot, then the rest of this really isn't for you. It's for the die-hard fan who will not only get an inspired set of remixes but also some of the strangest photographs of RuPaul — creepy ones that might make Marilyn Manson uneasy — in the liner notes.

RuPaul:ReWorked & ReVitalized

RuPaul thunders back onto the scene with a remix album of epic purportion. The album includes two remixes of his classic track "SuperModel" and both live up too the original. Several cutting edge DJs, including among others, Jr. Vasquez, Craig C, Gomi, Giuseppe D, and DJ BunJoe set themselves to work and successfully revitalize Ru's catalog of music. Besides a heavy sampling from his last album "RedHot" there is also a new track entitled "The Lonely" mixed by Giuseppe D, and a ferocious retooling of another RuPaul classic "Free To Be" mixed by Patrick Benoit that is a stellar improvement over the original. The "RedHot" tracks are remixed to perfection!!! Standouts include "Coming Out of Hiding" (Gender Mix), Hollywood U.S.A. (Pigeon Forge Vocal Mix) and "Give It One More Try" (Club Vocal Mix). This album is pure dancefloor nirvanna!!! Get it and you will get WORKED!!!!

Ru in form

this is a great remix project, Ru went for alot of new sounds and classic house too..the retro beatbox style of the new Supermodel remix is fantastic. The dj's did great mixes, especially the bellydancin type mix with funky beats in the remix of My Love Sees No Color- Matheos' mix. Crazy cover art too..awesome images

Wow!

RuPaul's "ReWorked" is fantastic!!! I can't stop listening to it! I am very impressed with the remixes...it really gives a unique new sound to great music! If you are a Ru fan, you will not be disappointed! If you are looking for some great dance music and you aren't familiar with Ru's music, then get these mixes. Ru deserves to be back on top of the dance charts with this collection. "Free to Be" should a radio-staple in these times of hatred and intolerance. This album is RED HOT!!!!
