Music to tap your toes to

When I first met Ryanhood in the summer of 2004 in Boston it became clear that there was no going back... I was hooked. This album quickly became a sort of soundtrack for the summer. 2 years and 2 more albums later I'm still a devoted "Ryanhoodlum". These are two troubadors, whose uncommonly beautiful guitar melodies and gentle lyrics bring a smile to my face every time I tune in, are well worth a look (or a listen)!

Wrapped around me like Ivy...

I love Ryanhood. Even as they have been spreading their words of love and realness around the country, they still hold a special place in my heart. I find their music so true and not pretentious. The world better get ready for these guys!

Sensuous Sounds and Songs of Sorrows and Joys

Ryanhood is a very talented acoustic pop duo from Tucson, Arizona, who I was very fortunate to know during the two years they lived in Boston and played throughout that area. Ryan Green and Cameron Hood are both adept singers and songwriters. Ryan is a virtual guitar prodigy; Cameron a veritable musical spiritual leader. “Sad and Happiness,” recorded in 2003, was initially a collaboration between the two whilst they were both otherwise engaged with other full bands. It turned out to be an incredible showcase of original and substantial songs, sung (and harmonized) flawlessly and performed with instrumental mastery. Several of its tunes are still staples in Ryanhood’s current performance set. Ryanhood’s music is wide-encompassing in its influences, but can be considered in the vernacular a modern take on Simon & Garfunkel vocally and Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds instrumentally, with overtones of Jason Mraz and Jars of Clay. The music is both accessible and sophisticated at once. It’s extremely difficult to form an aggregate opinion on Ryanhood, however, until you see them perform live. One can’t envision the energy and humor intrinsic in their performances just having heard “Sad and Happiness,” and yet the serenest of songs from this CD fit in context better within the framework of the fully charged and energetic other new material they perform. Still, “Sad and Happiness” is a must for anyone who has seen them on stage and ideal for those unaware to initiate themselves to the fantastic music this duo produces.
