iTunes Review

It’s 2008 and do you know where Motley Crue are? About where you might expect them, given their nefarious track record. After years of band infighting, legal hassles, replacement singers, uncomfortable stylistic shifts and the endless exploitation of their bad boy behavior, the original line-up are back on the arena stage and cranking out their old-school, glammed-up heavy metal riffs for all the world to bang their head along with. Not since 1989’s Dr. Feelgood has the band sounded as natural in its environment. Singer Vince Neil has lost a little velocity. His range is huskier and less elastic (as years of well-documented hard living will do), but he commands natural Crue-like rockers such as “Face Down in the Dirt” and “Down at the Whiskey” with ease. Songs are designed to shock and “This Ain’t a Love Song,” “Just Another Psycho,” “Chicks = Trouble” and “Mother f**ker of the Year” deliver on their promises with their nods to decadence wrapped in heavy metal harmonies. Thankfully, the riffs are fresher than the sentiments and Mick Mars’ guitars dive-bomb with the deafening swoops and screeches of old. They’d hate to think of themselves as a nostalgia act, but Saints of Los Angeles does recreate their era in convincing detail.

THE CRUE IS BACK BABY!!!

i pre-ordered this at FYE and it actually came in yesterday and i've been blasting it since i got it. i've had "saints of los angeles" ever since it was first leaked online in its entirety and love the video for that song. the rest of the album feels just like nikki described it...like "girls", "feelgood", and "shout" thrown into a blender. i can't wait for crue fest to take off in july! i got mosh pit tickets the day motley held their press conference in los angeles (all hail official site membership pre-sale access!) and can't wait to see the guys when they roll into st. louis!

The Sleaze Patrol is Back on the Prowl!!!

Classic Crue full of sleaze and raunch, but with a modern edge! Love it! Need it! Gotta have it! Nikki, Mick, Vince, and Tommy have done it again. This stuff is fantastic!!! Motley Crue are not just the Saints of LA, they've truly become Rock & Roll Royalty!!!! Long live the Crue!!! Thanks for all the years of great music! SOLA is just the latest chapter in a long list of Motley music that has been the soundtrack of my life! Thanks for this one guys! Mot-ley! Mot-ley! Mot-ley!

Biography

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Mötley Crüe were one of the most influential hair metal bands of the '80s, boasting a striking visual presence and hedonistic reputation rivaled only by Guns N' Roses. By combining Alice Cooper's shock rock with the bluesy, metallic stomp of the New York Dolls and Aerosmith, they helped establish hair metal as a commercial genre, sending their first five albums to platinum status in the process. Such success was at least partially due to Mötley Crüe's reputation as a riotous pack of rabble-rousers,...
