Album Review

Same Dream is Jon Secada's first pop album in five years and although there's been a long wait between albums, Secada hasn't changed his sound much. In fact, Same Dream sounds as if he's turning back the years even further than 2000s Better Part of Me, as if he's trying to reconnect with the appealing mellow sound that fueled his early-'90s hits. Not only is he not trying to have a big modern dance hit — the closest he comes is sampling Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" on "My Baby Don't Rock Like That," but the end result sounds closer to soft rock than hip-hop — he's not even gunning for the Latin pop market here. Instead, this is a pure adult contemporary pop album, with soft surfaces, soulful, tasteful vocals and warm melodies that are sturdy, not hooky. It's well constructed and, even though it was cut by a variety of producers, it's cohesive, making it a satisfying listen. Perhaps it's not anything new from Secada, but it does find him reconnecting to his strengths, which will be more than enough for fans who have followed him for nearly 15 years now. I LOVE this CD!

This CD is so mature and gentle in its expression. Almost every song contributes to its artful grace of real love, real longing, real heartbreak, real redemption. It's harmonious and melodic music for *adults* and I can't recommend it enough--especially for those days when all the bad you've done and that has been done to you seems to outweigh all the good you've done and that has been done for you. Bring on the sun and come out of the dark, indeed!

Jon soars on latest LP

This album is everything and more than what I expected. The regaeton influenced one "Tender Love" is my favorite song, it really hits in the car, as far as bass goes. "Same Dream" the title track is not only moving, but inspiring. It really captures the essence of Jon's voice, and presence. The song I would say is the the definition of who Jon is, vocally. "Free" the new single is really good too. It really gets going in the morning. It's what I wake up to on my alarm clock radio.

One Of The BEST CD`s Around

Jon Secada does it again. This CD is a must have to any CD collection. With all the different types of styles, genres and tempo you won`t get tired of Same Dream. You will enjoy the CD from the start of the up-lifting "Bring On The Sun" to the last song, Jon twist on "Coming Out Of The Dark". Don`t think twice about this one, buy it.
