Nianel - Talented Beyond Believe - But needs direction
Nianel is one of those magical stories. She could not get a record deal and financed her own first project. And then, SA came to fall in love with a sound and personality they have never experienced before. Now she is one of the top selling artist in SA. Nianel is amazing at coming up with her own unique sound. She is very much about writing what she loves instead of doing what the masses needs. That said, this album has about 40% fantastic songs, an the rest just feels lost.
She recently did a project with top selling male vocal band Romanz, and that remains one of the most popular albums to date. If Nia can stick with her signature classic sound, haunting vocals and melodic passages, she will not only set her self apart as a superstar, but gain international recognition.
Nia should carve out a niche for herself. Stick to it and become known for it. Stop trying to do every possible genre under the sun. It makes for a disconnected album that feels thrown together and her voice certainly does not get complimented by all these outrages styles.
