Larry Sizemore
This album is truly a hodgepodge of ideas and genres, devoid of a theme or common thread. That being said, the music is interesting and at times captivating. There are some real blues moments and interesting jazzy chord changes and melodies. There are treasures hidden in these songs, sometimes the lyrics, sometimes the aural images, sometimes the bluesy guitar licks. But as an album, it takes on too many genres and leaves too many forks in the road to be enjoyed as a single work. It is an eclectic collection to be sure, but certainly worth a listen. There is also a distinct indie small studio vibe, which may be deliberate or authentically so.
