Umbrella in the Rain!

Along with Piper, this freaky little album must have blown minds and raised a few eyebrows in the 60s. Still not listenable to the masses, no doubt. See Saw is one of Floyd's prettiest compocitions. Listen closely. A winding reel and memories fading away. No one does it like Floyd and no one ever will. Respect.

Very Underrated

Love this album. Its a bit creepy, but not creepy to the point where I feel funny, which is good.

Early Pink Floyd!!!

O.K, so i consider my self a huge pink floyd fan. I own every single one of their albums and I love every single one of thier songs. Despite having all their albums, I still focused on their newer stuff. the stuff that made them legends- Dark Side of The Moon, The Wall, Wish You Were Here, etc. Now dont get me wrong, I love the newer pink floyd. In fact, I love it just as much as their older stuff, but their older stuff is just different. In a very good way. The firs early Pink Floyd album I ever heard was Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. I first noticed the childish, fairy tale nature of it. It felt happy and creepy at the same time. It was interesting and I liked it. I think it was the third time around that I fell in love with it.Saucerful is much darker and, I think, even better. It is quieter in the beggining with "Let There be More Light" and " Remember a Day". Those songs along with "See Saw" are both very whimsical. It is also important to mention that Syd is only in the song "Jug bland Blues" because his brain is practically fried from acid now. Interestingly the band does great with this album and not so great with the next one, "ummaguma." My opinion is that they still had Syd Barret's influence in them. I think they were writing songs like he was still in the band. Anyway, this album is Possibly my favorite floyd album(Although that is an almost impossible statement to make. Beware that if you are use to "The wall" and such, this will be very new and different, but if you like early Pink Floyd and your deciding if you should get this album, then please, please beleive me. Get it!!! You will love it. Either way, Rock on pink floyd and R.I.P Syd Barret.

Biography

Formed: 1965 in London, England

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s

Pink Floyd is the premier space rock band. Since the mid-'60s, their music relentlessly tinkered with electronics and all manner of special effects to push pop formats to their outer limits. At the same time they wrestled with lyrical themes and concepts of such massive scale that their music has taken on almost classical, operatic quality in both sound and words. Despite their astral image, the group was brought down to earth in the '80s by decidedly mundane power struggles over leadership and,...
