Phenomenal album!
The G is for Great, E for Expectations, being surpassed, without limitations. I had this album pre-ordered as soon as I heard "Say G&E", and when I heard "All In" for the first time, the album had already validated itself in my mind. Hands down, the best hip-hop album of the year so far, in my mind. The production on this album is unbelievable. As if Eligh's beats don't instantly satisfy you're craving for new, unique hip-hop, than there's some gems from Amp Live, Flying Lotus, and Rick Rock that are sure to have you nodding your head. Grouch's intellect and inguinity in his rhymes command attention in a way similar to that of KRS-One. Eligh's skill-level and precision is becoming scary, and from the sound of his beats and rhymes on this, his solo album might very well be giving this album a run for album of the year. They say it themselves, "G&E is sure to tap into the human in you." Well, give Grouch & Eligh your attention for this hour of refreshing hip-hop and you will understand why that is not an assumption, it is a fact.
all i expected
saw em at paid dues this year. great group, even greater album. but boom? are you kiddding me? that song is terrible and slug should be ashamed of himself for making that his appearance. i enjoyed the rest of the album. ill probably just delete boom.
best of 2009?
I think so. Excellent production, and Eligh sounds better than ever. How these guys aren't huge is beyond my comprehension. If everyone gave this album and honest, open minded listen, the world would be a better place for it.
