Pitchfork got it wrong
I don't give much stock to Pitchfork reviews, but when they pan an amazing album like this one, it gets me pretty mad. This album is absolutely brilliant, with the possible exception of the final track, buy it, enjoy it. Shame on you Pitchfork, shame on you.
I lovee Born Ruffians, but...
I'm a huge fan of Born Ruffians, but let's face it: Red Yellow and Blue was a lot better than this album. The tracks were more catchy and more fun to sing along to. Some songs on Say It are okay, like Nova-Leigh and Oh Man. But, really, this album just didn't have the same awesomeness as Red Yellow and Blue. I'm really looking forward to the Ruffians' next album though.

Red Yellow and Blue is a perfect album and an incredible debut for this young band. This follow up LP has a more intense push with easy, fun tracks to compliment. After the chaos of "Retard Canard" the only suitable track to follow it would be "Sole Brother", the light-hearted narrative of wanting to be an only child... i enjoyed that transition a lot. "The Ballad of Moose Bruce" and "Reatrd Canard" showcase their obvious knack for timing, and at the same time highlight what Born Ruffians are all about... fast, fun pop songs. Some snobs have snubbed this LP for being underwhelming to their debut but after a couple listens, it grows into its own perfect album, thanks Born Ruffians
