Nicole Vaughn
Nicole Vaughn is an amazing artist especially when heard live! I would recommend downloading the whole CD because every track is great!
A Fantastic Record
Nicole Vaughn is a breath of fresh air. Her songwriting is original but melodic - great, memorable choruses blended with a hint of the unexpected. Lyrically she is unafraid to be completely honest and put herself out there - as is - which requires a kind of bravery only real artists possess (and so few seem to be willing to commit to nowadays). Her voice has that intangible quality that fills a room or turns a head - sincere, with very unique intonation. She is a natural on stage - you get the sense she has her fears but has confronted them, is stronger for it and maybe even wants you to tell you a little about them.
The most amazing thing about it all is that she is unsigned (or is that becoming an antiquated term?) and has produced this record on her own. Her production choices are mature (she's only 22!) - she likes to keep things simple and minimal and let the song speak for itself, while still conscious of tone quality and all the little details.
I recommend the entire album; highlights to me are 'Gutter Leaf' ( a beautiful, timeless song), 'Say It' (huge choral harmonies), and 'Stuck On You' (with the great ascending choral line that takes the song to a new place)...
Personally she's humble, grateful, hard-working, and committed - a musician and songwriter for all the right reasons. She has a bright present and future.

My 24 year old daughter turned me on to this album "Say It", and it is really excellent! I've been listening to it in the car, and it has really grown on me. Very well done, easy listening but with enough character and punch to really be enjoyable. Well produced. Buy the album - as all songs are very good. I look forward to future work from Nicole Vaughn.
