One of St. Louis' finest
For those in the know, this double edged, guitar driven rock of The Upright Animals can be considered some of the finest original music to come out of the Midwest in a long time. From the triple slide guitar on "Interest" to the heavy jam riff on "Stay Inside", it is apparent that rock is still alive and kicking. The bass and drums are tight and strong vocals compliment the energetic, if not a bit 60ish lead guitar on some songs- especially " Hand Grenade". Also take a listen to the pop/punk gem "She's Not an Animal". All in all, a great first release from an up and coming band. Go see them live if you get a chance!
They are going to be HUGE someday...
Saw them live at Pop's and I was blown away! Jim on guitar is definitely the star of the show... I would compare him to Hendrix but that might be a travesty. After the show they were on their way to Nashville to record!! They are definitely the best thing to ever come out of St. Louis... unless you like Nelly. Kudos guys! Definitely buy this album and support an up-and-coming legend!
