Wonderful Movie - Captivating Soundtrack

I have watched (or listened to, with closed eyes) this movie more than any other (at least 20 times). The movie's patient but steadily suspenseful pace, character development, and plot execution with ending twist make it a fantastic movie for the patient viewer. The music is wonderful and wonderfully fitting. It's better classified, in some or many cases, as "mystic cinematic orchestral" than "jazz." The best song of the film (and soundtrack) is Flashback (track 3): A haunting jazz piece fitting for much of the movie. Listening on an iPod, the piece is perhaps fitting as the first song during a cold and dark urban morning, when first stepping foot out into the fog. There's tension in the air, not everything is seen, and yet there's a forward driving momentum with haunting vibraphone, acoustic bass, flute, and subtly motivating percussion. Too bad Diana Krall's lovely jazz ballad is not included in this soundtrack album - it would have bumped the album to five stars.

Howard/Heist

This is one of my favorite films. DeNiro and Norton are amazing, not to mention Brando, in his last film. This soundtrack is perfect for the film. Its not Shores grand Lord of the Rings or Aviator Scores. Its real low-key, and sets the perfect mood for this great heist movies. This is one of my favorites. The movie and score mesh perfectly. Well Done Howard
