iTunes Review

Their previous album, Point of Entry, had been their most carefully crafted to date, leaving the group determined to capture more of their live energy next go around. Which they did. Alongside British Steel, 1982’s Screaming for Vengeance stands as the definitive Judas Priest album. From the guitar harmonies sparking the album’s brief album opener “The Hellion,” it’s clear the band is fully recharged and ready to do battle. The big brother paranoia of “Electric Eye,” the bloodcurdling yelps of “Bloodstone,” the S&M suggestions of “Pain and Pleasure,” the shrieking revenge of the title track, and the simple defiance of “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” are among the group’s strongest songs, mating their patented twin-guitar attack with tunes that are both catchy and consistently aggressive. Singer Rob Halford tries on many voices: spy movie detective (“Electric Eye”), falsetto arena rock shrieker (“Riding On the Wind”), almost sensitive pop crooner (“Take These Chains”), and heavy metal commander. Great fun. (This edition adds two tracks, "Prisoner of Your Eyes" and a live version of "Devil's Child.")

Metal Heaven.

All the cd is fantastic. Maybe the least good song is Pain and Pleasure. But still awesome. My Ratings: The Hellion:9/10 good intro song Electric Eye:11/10 perfect. Ridong On the Wind: 10/10 this is one of my favourite songs of this album. Bloodstone:10/10 Another great song. But it could be repetetive. Take These Chains: 8.5 /10 ok, but not my fav. Pain And Pleasure:8/10 not too good, but it's still cool Screaming for Vengeance: 9/10 Yeah, good. You've got...:10/10 Great song. I understand why it's so famous. Fever:9.5/10 Excellent. I love it. Devil's child: 9.5/10 very good I don't really care about the bonus tracks, so I won't rate them.

Screaming for Awesomeness

Priest's awesomest album, aside from Sad Wings of Destiny. I named two whitewater rapids after the Hellion and the Electric Eye, because the crashing water reminds me of those songs. The song Screaming for Vengeance rules too, and contains one of the best screams in all of metaldom. Listen for it.

Epic!

This is the album that really broke Priest as metal gods, this is a must have for metal fans, every song is great.

Judas Priest was one of the most influential heavy metal bands of the '70s, spearheading the New Wave of British Heavy Metal late in the decade. Decked out in leather and chains, the band fused the gothic doom of Black Sabbath with the riffs and speed of Led Zeppelin, as well as adding a vicious two-lead guitar attack; in doing so, they set the pace for much popular heavy metal from 1975 until 1985, as well as laying the groundwork for the speed and death metal of the '80s.
