real hip-hop music
KnowMads been at this rap game for a few years now and they're bringing it hard. The free CD's they got online are sick and The Rooftop is pretty good too (though maybe not as solid overall), but this album is on another level. MC's Pepe and Cheef are two of the freshest, yet unheard voices in hip-hop, and at least in my opinion they have something to offer that goes beyond beats and rhymeskills. The 22 songs fill up an 80 minute disc and cover a lot, from songs about partying and girls to surviving the human struggle, dealing with regret, and the search for meaning, these dudes always come hard and fast with innovative and smooth deliveries, dope, intelligent lyricism and wordplay, and a type of potential mass appeal that needs to be realized. If you want some party tracks, check out Weed, FlipCup, MolliE, and Crankitup. If you're looking for some real philosophizing and true human emotion, check out WildFlower, LooseHugs, Girl, and BlackBEAR. If you want something that's got more to it than what you're hearing on the radio (in terms of skill, lyricism, and realness), check out PayBack, Ego, Dream, and Seattle/Return of the Jedi. Every song offers something and strengthens this great album. These two (sometimes 3) guys have got ridiculous flow, an abundance of intelligence (as is apparent in their songs of a variety of styles), catchy and intricate beats made by a variety of producers, and are working hard apparently with 4 albums out in as many years or less. If you're looking for something more in music, pick up this album. Support that real music - these guys deserve some recognition for their skill and commitment to making dope hip-hop. Since I started listening to their music, I've always felt like they make something that people should really be hearing, and this album is gonna be the vehicle that will spread their words. Not to mention its only ten bucks! cop that asap.
look deeper
these guys are, and have been some of my favorites for a good time now. everything they've brought has been good and i often enjoy just throwing in my burned copy of the cd and letting it run straight through in my car. if you can: buy the whole album, buy the rooftop, and go get the other two they have out. and i promise you wont be dissapointed. if you're not gunna go do that, i ask you to PLEASE look a little deeper than their top downloads or whatnot in order to get some of their deeper (and in my opinion better) stuff. 1, 6, 10, 16, 21
Sick.
Glad the knowmads finally got this album on iTunes, took a few good months. Tracks 1,4, 10,12 and 17 are very good. And the remixes of 5 and 8 are solid.
