iTunes Butchers a Masterpiece

I purchased the REAL original cast cd as soon as I left the theater on Broadway back in 1990. The music is some of the best written for the stages in thelast two decades and the original cast, led by Mandy Patinkin performed it masterfully. The Secret Garden demands start-to-finish listening for the power of the work to emerge. iTunes removal or tracks of dialouge, instrumental music, and abridging of lyrics makes their version A MUST AVOID. Even the displayed cover art is from the wrong album- the original cast recording is solid black with a handdrawn garden growing up from the bottom of the cover and revealing characters from the story.

Must Have (but not from iTunes)

This is one of my favorite musicals of all time. Must have songs are Lily's Eyes, Where in the World, and How Could I Ever Know. These 3 songs are amazingly powerful both musically and lyrically, especially the latter two. Other good songs are Wick, Hold On, Winters on the Wing, A Bit of Earth, Come to My Garden, and Quartet. I definitely recommend buying off of Amazon which I did for 8 dollars. Looking at earlier reviews, I guess at one time iTunes offerred the entire album for 9.99 but has since changed. 27 dollars is a little too much, but there are definitely more than 10 good songs so I'd definitely recommend just buying the entire album.

Broadways Best Kept Secret

At first I was just surfing Amazon. I was looking for Ten dollars to spend, and I think I spent it very well. This Album is stunning. From the gorgeous performance of Rebbecca to Mandi Papkin's stunning Uncle performance, this album is amazing. if you enjoy the Phantom of the Opera, Into the Woods, or just enjoy musicals this Cd is your best buy ever. My favorite song is Final Storms and A Bit of Earth. BUY THIS ALBUM.
