Some Excellent Versions of Great TFF Songs
It's nice to hear Curt and Roland back together. Overall, if you are a Tears for Fears fan, these live versions will be a welcome addition to your library.
There are some excellent versions of their best known songs here, although the track list isn't particularly deep and has a bit of filler.
Those caveats aside, there are a few tracks that make the album worthwhile. My two favorites are "Mad World", which seems to have taken a little from the downtempo Gary Jules version, combined with TFF original. In my opinion, this version is the BEST EVER version of Mad World, some downtempo, combined with great harmony, coupled with pure power and emotion that are lacking in Gary's version. It is clear that Curt and Roland really feel every word. "Shout" is my second fav on this album, it stays true to the original, but builds slowly into an excellent alt hard rocking classic.
Of course "Pale Shelter", "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Head over Heals" are excellent here as well. I'm not as partial to their newer material, but fans will find a sampling here as well. Buy it, listen and love it.
