Jump into the Gospel, Self Titled EP
Like a glittering, auditory disco ball, Jump into the Gospel debuts on the indie rock scene with a polish and finesse that typically only begins to emerge on a sophomore or third effort with the helping hand of an established producer. JITG's self-titled EP features impeccable production and engineering by up-and-coming NYC-based producer Ben Liscio (who has honed his production and engineering skills through assisting producers such as Rich Costey and Dave Sitek, and working with artists such as The Strokes, TV on the Radio, and Glasvegas) on "Humvee Mansion", "Photovoltaic", and "Powerlines". Meanwhile, the undoubtedly hipster-club friendly "Humvee 'Scary' Mansion" features flawless production by the band's friends, the producer/DJ duo GRVRBBRS.
Frontman Louis Epstein's original, emphatic vocals, wails, and interspersed falsetto float over upbeat melodies and rhythmic precision to showcase the vocal equivalent of rhythmic gymnastics. Epstein's sound is always controlled but powerfully fluid enough to leave a lingering impression that penetrates far beyond the eardrums and into the soul. With an incredibly deft set of hands, keyboardist Erik Tonnesen sweetens drummer Chris Stein's clean, bold rhythms and guitarist Ben Vescovi's poignant guitar riffs and melodies. Truly a grouping made in heaven, the quartet lends the tunes an impressive level of musical technicality and rigor with the sort of artistic presentation and showmanship that European and stateside indie fans alike adore; thus, JITG places itself in a position to rapidly expand an already strong following both overseas and at home. Infusing their tracks with infectious energy and charisma, Jump into the Gospel render their first release pure, magical gold, and thereby solidly establish themselves as a band to not just watch but devour.
