Album Review
Released 11 days before Valentine's Day 2009, Boney James' album Send One Your Love seems intended to function as his romance-themed disc for the holiday. Not that any of the smooth-playing saxophonist's CDs wouldn't serve almost equally well as accompaniment to a candlelit dinner and all that comes after, but Send One Your Love is particularly suited to a night of love. In Boney James' estimation, the height of tender emotion seems to be located on the R&B charts of the mid-'70s; in addition to the title tune, penned by Stevie Wonder, the album contains his jazzy treatments of the Stylistics' "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)," Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little Bit More Baby," and the Brothers Johnson's "I'll Be Good to You." In the case of "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight," which here features a soulful vocalist over-emoting his way through the lyrics, Boney James may be recalling Nancy Wilson's version rather than the folk-pop one by its composer, James Taylor. But whether the familiar melodies are intended to recall young love for listeners or the tunes are originals, the music is typically soothing, making this another Boney James album much like its predecessors.

Vintage Boney
Boney continues to put out good music. I really believe in the smooth jazz genre Boney really gets it. As those of us that follow smooth jazz lately, the genre is in trouble as some of the stations in the major markets have gone away from the format and a lot of it has to do with the lack on invention in the smooth jazz music. I really hope that this is the start of something wth Boney and others smooth jazz artist really thinking about their craft and reinventing themselves in order to keep this kind of music available to us. Thank you Boney for staying true to the genre and the music you play. This CD is very nice.
100% "Make out" Album
6 covers and 4 originals, no one does it better than "Boney". Each cover is true to the original, yet Boney puts his stamp on it. His four originals on this album pick up where "Shine" leaves off. As the album's producer, Boney displays stellar production qualities. Let's hope that music insiders remember this one for next year's Grammy Awards. Well done, Boney!
Again, amazin'!!!
After waiting for sooo long, Boney does not disappoint. After you 'Stop, Look, Listen' - you won't be able to get enough 'Butter' in your diet. Recommended for all Smooth Jazz heads and anyone who wants incredible music to chill by!
