A Cappella for the Apocalypse
My knowledge of a cappella is admittedly pretty limited. There's that band from "Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego," that album by Bjork, and that album by Camille. Vocal Steak's "Senile Sunrise" is all three of those put into a blender along with GWAR, Gregorian chants, "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters," a kitten, and half a thesaurus. The album is a new, experimental take on a genre often associated with pasty, rich, New England college students. This ain't your father's a cappella.
My favorite tracks are "Edowapin Moanday Time" and the cover of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit."
A slight problem.
I've never before listened to an album that made me go completely blind. Ever. I've heard people talk about such a thing happening to someone they knew, or some person they heard about through a friend. It has something to do with rocking so hard in such a short period of time, I'm sure. The good news is that my ears are still working. I'm gonna listen to it again and hope it's as good as that first time.
