Serena Williams’ Spontaneous Speed Workout
It doesn’t matter if your running “A thousand miles” or one-hundred miles, Serena “Gives it to you”, in this mix. You get your whole workout… everything from a warm-up, to sporadic speed bursts, to a cool down, all in a quick 30 minutes. So, “Let it Go” and “Release” your inner runner, you know she’s just waiting to come out! When I popped in the CD at the gym… I didn’t know what to expect, as I have never used a workout music CD before… but what I got surprised me, a beat bumpin’, butt tonin’, calorie burnin’, full-body workout! As funny as it sounds, I found it very helpful and worthwhile to have Serena “in my head” guiding me through my run, and I was happy to hear that she doesn’t talk the entire 30 minutes, she gives you the running command, and your on your own until she chimes in with the next. I actually got so into the CD that I started talking back to the “Serena in my head” answering “No”, and telling her in “nice terms” to shut-up when she asks, “Are you ready? Or try harder!” The women on the machines next to me had to think I was completely nuts, gasping for breath and talking to myself. I listened to the entire CD but I definitely could not run all the way through it, I pooped out and walked the last 10 minutes. I’ve tried those workout videos on television and never felt I got anything out of them, but this CD isn’t anything like those videos! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to spruce up to their workout routine. The songs keep you motivated, uplift your mood, and leave you feeling like your heart is going to flop out of your chest… and your legs, well you don’t know what your legs feel like afterward because you lost feeling in them the first five minutes of the CD! But just like they say… no pain, no gain. And just like my mom always said to me as a kid, you don’t know if you don’t like it until you try it… so, what are you waiting for?
Finally! good music with great run training
I love this workout! Serena is a great at motivation! I have stayed away from many other workouts because the music was just plain awful. But leave it to Serena to finally put together pleasant music, good coaching, and one hec of interval workout. Any runner trying to take their running up a notch should try this one on! NIKE please, please make more like this one.
I absolutely love
I absolutely loved how motivated I was to run, and run well, every time I worked out to this 30 minute interval run. I was expecting the workout to get more repetitive and predictable each time I ran to it, but I have used this workout during seven runs and each time I am still challenged. The first run was difficult, I had no idea what to expect, I was out of breath almost the entire time, but the music helped keep me going. By my seventh workout I found that while I was more used to what was going to happen, I was still challenged. I have control over how much I push myself, how intense I want my speed bursts to be. I can also choose my route, whether it’s mostly uphill, in a park, in the grass, etc. So the workout doesn’t necessarily have to be the same every time. And the music choice was excellent! I found my steps going with the rhythm of the music. It’s a good feeling when you enjoy and look forward to running.
