rounded out and a bit more mature

Minneapolis locals the Reckless Ones are at it again delivering their sophomore release Set The World On Fire - a message of pure intent sure to let people know they are not about to go quietly into the night. After being a band for little more then two years Reckless Ones have released two full length albums, done numerous tours throughout the United States and Europe and are constantly playing in the Minneapolis rockabiilly circuit with absolutely no end insight. Their freshman release Make Your Move is an impressive work of art for a band so new at the time. With songs like the post apocalyptic Dead and Gone and the more somber laid back Forbidden, these guys made sure you knew they weren't about to fit into anyone else's mold of what a neo-rockabilly band should be.

Set The World On Fire isn't any different in that respect. While the sound isn't quite as "tough as nails" as their first release the content hasn't changed much. The song One Knife For You is certainly a testament to the "lets do this" attitude of the band while Tender Nights goes beyond the bands surface blatantly sharing more heartfelt life experiences like love and loss; a sentiment most anyone can relate to. Furthermore, this album shows signs of the bands impending maturity with a more consistent and well rounded sound I think its safe to say that the next time you see these guys on an album cover they will have nailed the Reckless package down to a distinct science unlike any other this generation has seen. Pick this one up and you're sure to break out the leather jacket grab hold of your guy or gal and dance the night away. Four out of five stars.
