Fun Hard Rock is Back!
Caught these guys live a few weeks back and was blown away. Awesome stage show of 3 guys dressed as aliens in leisure suits. But the music is really what got me. Dynamic hard rockin riffs with trippy lyrics, fun hooks and beats, creating a sound which seems too great for only a three peice. The album represents their live show accrately, with excellent sound quality especially for a newer band. (sounds killer in the car). Beyond the Black Hole is an example of what modern guitar rock should be but so offten is not. This is the best band i have discovered in quite a while. It's nice to hear music that doesn't focus on pain or how sad they are but just rocks for the fun of it. Buy this disc, or borrow it, or steal it whatever just get it and get lost in the Shadow of the Planetoid!
Space Rock from Another Dimension!
If you ever wondered what a rock band would sound like if its members were born in another galaxy, came to Earth to study classic rock and funk, and then recorded an album, this is it... I saw Planetoid's live show a few days ago, and they just blew me away and I had to pick up the album. Shadow of the Planetoid puts a bit of a polish on the songs compared to their live performance, but it still captures a great deal of the band's powerful sound. While their sonic style might feel a bit familiar, Planetoid's lead vocals and lyrics are anything but -- and they transport you through the worm hole to the middle of some serious intergalactic drama. Do yourself a favor and buy the whole album -- it's too hard to single out one or two songs.
