like a handful of diamonds

Anyone who has had the opportunity to see David Poe play live, knows he creates rich, lush scores of notes and lyrics that fall like diamonds. Shadowland is a collection of diamonds. A classically trained musician, David's musical score for Shadowland opens with a gentle, complex series of notes that are repeated in large orchestrated composition later in the album. David's voice and lyrics are disarming, smart, and beautiful . Not enough Night makes you long for more time, more song. Like a Storm, Joy and New Friends are classic Poe tunes, filled with lyrical twists, like when he sings, "I lied to you again". You will play this collection of songs over and over again.

Where do I begin

Joy and Not Enough Night are two of my all time favorite David Poe songs. One actually gives me joy (i think i decided that the soundtrack to my life would have Joy during the opening credits) and the other is the most romantic song I've ever heard. So, it was a thrill to have them on this release. Like a Storm and New Friends are new favs as well but he goes above and beyond the brilliant songwriting I already expected. I was absolutely blown away by the orchestrations. Gorgeous! Perfectly provocative lyrics. I absolutely love The Elephant. It's all ear candy/brain candy. The entire CD is a joyride for the ears and imagination.
