Shake Those Bones
Mad Maggies 5th album is a satisfying collection of tunes and songs crafted by Maggie Martin, featuring a spicy rhythm section, a smorasbord of winds,( from tuba to tin whistle and everything in between), mixed and blended with rich accordion. Maggies singing is persuasive in any language, she even offers a Queen Latifah-esque story-telling rap. the mood is playful but the musicianship is serious. Surprising tone color combinations, brilliant orchestrations and perfectly harmonized wind and accordion passages are a particular delight.

Bone-shaking and more
A fun follow-up to "Skull and Magpies", this album continues the pirate theme, but incorporates the ska and classic R-&-B of last year's "Flashback". Some of the songs are, appropriately, dance songs you can "shake your bones" to, while others are sensitively arranged ballads, and then there's that Celtic dub that closes the album. There are plenty of surprises and lots of fun--highly recommended for repeated listening!
