Drummers...GET THIS!
If you appreciate great drumming...and I mean drumming built on tasteful grooves and attentive musicality, get this album. While some drummers have fireworks galore, Pelton concentrates on making the whole band sound great. I was lucky enough to have a lesson with Steve Hass (John Scofield, Manhattan Transfer, and Ravi Coltrane) and we spent a couple minutes talking about influences and I told him that Pelton's playing on Shawn Colvin's A Few Small Repairs really inspired me; Hass's face lit up and told me he was glad I thought so because that was an album that inspired him as well. Pelton simply rocks, swings, grooves...whatever it takes!
