Dail's voice is full of personality and warm, soulful textures. Her lyrics are imaginative and compelling. The tunes radiate a catchiness and accessibility that's deeply satisfying without being predictable or lacking dimension. Accomplished in it's production, the instruments create their own show with complimentary lines, thematic finger picking sequences and pulsing grooves, somehow never crowding each other and never distracting from the main, vocal event. The 80's all grown up.
It is obvious that these folks cut their teeth on 80's college radio tunes. Cat Dail reminds me of some of the great voices of that era - Debora Iyall, Bonnie Hayes, Chrissie Hynde. But don't dismiss this group as a derivative sound. Mixing multiple styles from Reggae to syth, they create a modern, soulful sound.
