Shine is a wonderful movie & soundtrack

Well, I think David Helfgott plays the piano very well; I understand that he may not be as incredible as the movie portrayed him to be, but being a pianist, I appreciate his musical talent on the piano and know that the music he's playing is virtually impossible to those who aren't prodigies. This soundtrack is beautiful

take a step back

David Helfgott my not be the greatest pianist on earth and its probable that few outside of his family know the true story of his life. Out of all the people who play piano very few will ever get to the point where they can play even a few lines of Rachmaninov's works. I grew up in the classical music world and often I find that people forget classical music is not a competition, its not about who is best or who has the fastest chops or the "right" interpretation. Music is a gift in itself and is meant to be enjoyed by both the performer and audience. If one person's passion can influence the life of someone else in a positive way then its even more magical. Whether it was factual or not the movie Shine probably turned a lot of people on to Rachmaninov's music, isn't that a blessing on its own? If it takes a movie to bring some of the greatest music ever written to the masses then so be it, the world is a better place because of it.

Feeling and love shine thru this album-beautiful to hear and remember that perfection is not always the most important thing in life.
