Shocking Blue Rocks!

I don't own this particular compilation, but I do most all of the tracks from another compilation that I bought a few years ago. Folks, Shocking Blue was more than a one-hit wonder band. They were quite popular in Europe during the early to mid 1970s. Lead vocalist Mariska Veres is one of rock's most underrated divas. Her unique voice takes charge of all the tracks that she sings lead on... which is nearly all of them. Everyone knows their #1 hit "Venus." When I bought this 45 way back in the 1970s, I also grew to love "Hot Sand" which at that time on the Colossus label was the B-side to "Venus." The song totally rocks. It was not until later that I found all of their other music and have grown to love it all. Best tracks: "Never Marry a Railroad Man," "Send Me a Postcard," "Mighty Joe" and "Let Me Carry Your Bag." If you can try to find the CD with the track "Love Buzz" on it. This is a song that the legendary Seattle band Nirvana covered in the late 1980s.

Significant
