awesome!
I love this music. This is Shostakovich at his best. If you have this album and a decent recording of his fifth symphony you are well on your way. You might consider adding some of Shostakovich's string quartets. Emerson has a complete set if you want to spend the money. The Ygdrasil Quartet has some nice recordings.
Tremendous!
You can't beat this ensemble and the pieces they perform here are indeed two of Shostakovich's most powerful and haunting works.
